Experts from the University of Osijek, Department of Biology, have taken soil samples to investigate microplastics in the soil while monitoring the distribution of earthworms across the entire area of Lower Kamenjak, particularly near the main road and parking zones.

Furthermore, for the coastal and marine areas, experts from the Ruđer Bošković Institute, Center for Marine Research in Rovinj, have collected macroplastics and other waste on the beaches of Polje, Školjić, and the island of Ceja to monitor and analyze washed-up and discarded waste.

In early May, project partners from the University of Parma visited for a working session. They used drones to survey the entire Lower Kamenjak area and the Medulin archipelago, including protected grasslands. This drone footage will help monitor whether visitors are causing soil fragmentation in the grasslands and creating unauthorized paths.
