Biotechnology and plant breeding are pivotal to advancing the bioeconomy, and the Troubsko workplace, renowned for its long-standing tradition in developing new plant varieties, served as the perfect setting for this event. During the workshop, participants were introduced to various value chains and hands-on techniques for preparing snacks and meals using these unique crops in both cold and hot kitchens.
Highlights of the workshop included the use of safflower oil for baking cookies, chickpea flour for gluten-free desserts, and the preparation of clover tea. Attendees were provided with recipes for these dishes and publications featuring new plant varieties developed at the research facility. The workshop was met with great enthusiasm, reflecting the growing interest in bio-based products.
A key objective of this initiative is to actively involve citizens in the bioeconomy not just as consumers, but also as producers. The workshop demonstrated that many everyday products can be made at home using bio-based ingredients. To support this goal, ART will prepare and translate instructions for making a variety of homemade bio-based products into national languages.
In addition to printed materials distributed at the workshop, ART will produce a short tutorial video and educational content to be shared via YouTube, the BIOECO-UP project’s website, and social media channels. These resources aim to further disseminate knowledge and encourage broader participation in bio-based product creation.
