The Department of Regional Policy and Foreign Cooperation of the Marshal’s Office of the Lodzkie Region organized a pivotal meeting on 9th August, featuring Artur Ostrowski, Member of the Management Board of the Lodzkie Region. The event, held in Lodz, also saw contributions from the Just Transition Fund Department and the Spatial Planning Office of the Lodzkie Region.
Local government officials, representatives from transformation areas within the Lodzkie Region, and non-governmental organizations with an interest in just transformation gathered to discuss critical regional issues. The focal point of the meeting was the introduction of a new digital tool developed under the JETforCE project. This innovative application aims to map and address challenges faced in transformation areas by allowing residents to report climate-related concerns in their communities.
The tool is part of a broader effort to facilitate community engagement and data collection on climate change impacts, providing valuable insights into regional challenges and guiding future interventions.
Participants also delved into key topics such as the principles of the just transformation process in the Lodzkie Region, and the support available through initiatives like the JTP Groundwork and LIFE AFTER COAL projects. These initiatives, in which the Spatial Planning Office of the Lodzkie Region is actively involved, are designed to aid local governments in navigating the transition towards sustainable development.
Additionally, the meeting covered potential financing opportunities for transformation activities through the FEŁ2027 program and provided guidance on securing project funding. This comprehensive approach underscores the region’s commitment to addressing climate change and fostering a just transition for all stakeholders involved.
