The Regional Development Agency for Podravje – Maribor (RRA Podravje – Maribor), E-Zavod, and the Municipality of Maribor have established a local climate mission. This initiative aims to facilitate collaboration among key stakeholders involved in climate change adaptation and enhance resilience to climate change.
Various projects and activities were presented during the first conference, titled “Green Mission for the Climate,” held on March 20, 2024. The meeting showcased the ambitious projects and activities undertaken by notable entities such as RRA Podravje – Maribor, the Republic of Slovenia’s Environmental Agency, the Energy and Climate Agency for Podravje, the Chamber of Commerce of Štajerska, the University of Maribor, the Maribor University Clinical Center, the Maribor Public Holding Group, E-Zavod, the Municipality of Maribor, and the Joint Service for Environmental Protection operating within the Maribor Joint Municipal Administration.
The agenda covered topics such as circular waste management, climate change in Slovenia, renewable energy sources, awareness and education on climate change, green infrastructure, community resilience to climate change, innovative solutions, mental health support for young people, sustainable nutrition systems, heat protection, environmental protection measures, responsible waste and water management, and social responsibility.
The meeting concluded with a consensus on the importance of continued collaboration and the exploration of new avenues to address in the future.
