The project „Network Natural Forests“ has been initiated by three actors: the Kalkalpen National Park (in the province of Upper Austria), the Gesäuse National Park (in the province of Styria) and the Dürrenstein Wilderness Area (in the province of Lower Austria). In between those areas, there lies the Styrian Eisenwurzen Nature & Geopark, which works on further connecting the three protected areas to encourage a vivid interchange between populations of wild animals and plants.
At the annual meeting, all participating organizations, protected areas and forest enterprises are represented to exchange ideas and explore potential collaborations for projects and activities. In that framework we presented and discussed the HFR project and especially the topic of new opportunities for dealing with forest ecosystem services.
