According to the outputs from the meteorological and soil drought monitoring in Slovakia, the most of the country is experiencing drought in various intensity. Approx. 29 % of the territory is facing significant to extreme soil drought. Considering relative soil humidity, the soil moisture is under 50 % over whole Slovakia except the High Tatras Mountains. Such low soil moisture lasts in the lowland regions of the western Slovakia almost 3 months. Therefore, the experts from the National reporting network of drought impacts reported considerable the drought impacts on agriculture and forestry. According to the forecast from the ECMWF model, it is not expected that the drought conditions will be getting better in the next 7 to 10 days. On the contrary, the worsening of the situation is foreseen.
