Prague 5 is one of the largest districts of Prague, located on the west side of the Vltava River. It comprises Smíchov, Radlice, Košíře, Barrandov, Zlíchov, Zličín, Jinonice, Hlubočepy, Motol, Slivenec, Butovice, Chuchle, and Klukovice, as well as a very small part of Malá Strana – the total area of 27.50 km2 with a total population of 89007 inhabitants. The industrial history of Prague was written in Smíchov and is very diverse: textile factories, breweries, and railway carriages. Today, the industrial era is recalled only by the sizeable area of the Staropramen Brewery. Smíchov has undergone a remarkable change during the past few years. This workers’ district has been transformed into a district of ultra-modern offices, shopping centres and multiplex cinemas. Prague 5 has grown more important since the reconstruction of Anděl on Smíchov. Prague 5 is very easily accessible by public transport, very close to the historical centre of Prague City. The urban environment is very diverse. There are still remnants of the industrial era in the form of brownfields, a railway line, and a landfill.

On the other hand, there are very pleasant climatic conditions along the course of the Vltava River, as well as smaller streams. We can find many parks, children’s workout playgrounds, well-maintained urban greenery, and pedestrian zones. Prague 5 is a city district directly made for the challenges of the future. It is growing into a European city of the future, where you want to work and live at the same time.

Prague 5 established 13 state schools and 23 state kindergartens; there are many other private educational institutions, including international schools such as Lycée Français de Prague in Smíchov or Deutsche Schule Prag in Jinonice.

Prague 5 Municipal District is the official legal authority in the field of public administration. In connection with the priorities set out in the strategic document Strategy of the Municipal District of Prague 5 2030+, it intends to actively address the issue of the energy crisis, sustainable development of public areas, and reducing the energy consumption of buildings in the next period. For this purpose, the energy team has been established.

The SuPeRBE project has a strong synergy effect with the goals set by the energy team. As a very mature municipality of Prague, it is desirable that they fulfil the Climate Plan 2030 of the Capital City of Prague and assist in developing concrete tools to implement the policies. At a time when they are also involved in projects for the development of digitalisation and cyber security, we find great sense in being involved in the pilot project of the future IT platform that will be created within the SuPeRBE project.

They have experienced staff with several years of international experience at the municipal office. They also expect to involve experts from the energy team, including external experts, and they will provide the data that the municipality collects to implement priorities that align with the Climate Plan 2030 of the Capital City of Prague. They believe this cooperation will benefit all partners involved.

The involvement and role of Prague 5 Municipality District in the project’s activities are the following:
