Soča Valley Development Centre, The Walk of Peace Foundation in the Soča Region Foundation, and the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU) organized a workshop for Slovenian stakeholders at outdoor museum Sabotin on October 11, 2024.

During the workshop, European Interreg projects of the Walk of Peace were presented, as well as our plans for the development of the Walk of Peace from the Alps to the Adriatic. In addition, we discussed the current status and future improvements in the management of World War I heritage.

The workshop was attended by 33 representatives from local and regional institutions (development agencies, municipalities, tourism offices and associations, museums), as well as national institutions (Slovenian Ministry of Defence and the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia).

Key points of the workshop included the importance of the human factor and enthusiasm in preserving cultural heritage, finding synergies between different sectors, and the significance of the effective flow of financial resources between the tourism sector and heritage conservation. The Walk of Peace in the Soča Region Foundation was recognized as a key organization in this field.
