HEAT 35 partners AEE INTEC and E-zavod organized a knowledge transfer session on quality management of biomass district heating systems based on rich Austrian experiences in the field. Some bigger district heating systems in Slovenia have recently been replacing fossil fuels with biomass, which creates new challenges with the availability of biomass, emission control, spatial planning, energy efficiency, logistics, etc. Austria is managing biomass district heating through the national QM Biomass DH Plants scheme (https://www.qm-biomass-dh-plants.com/home.html), which is also linked with the biomass subvention scheme. The concept proved to be very interesting for Slovenian district heating operators as well as for representatives of the Ministry for Environment, Climate and Energy.
The event took place in Ljubljana on 7th November 2024 and was a part of the regular meeting of the Energy Industry Chamber of Slovenia – District Heating Section, with attendance of around 25 district heating operators and the representatives of the relevant ministry.
E-zavod and District Heating Section took the opportunity and signed a cooperation agreement providing support for the implementation of HEAT 35 activities on one hand and utilizing HEAT 35 project results by Section members on another.
