Health Labs4Value

Project overview

Establishment of sustainable structures for the deployment of innovations, transfer of technologies, and knowledge in health care systems in CE based on OI 2.0 principles.

Health care has to digitalise to cope with an aging population and a growing number of patients with chronic diseases. Digital solutions often exist but their transfer from one ecosystem to another remains challenging. The Health Labs4Value project supports the transfer of digital solutions through living labs. These bring together health care organisations and companies as well as policy makers and patients to jointly improve the introduction of patient-oriented digital solutions.

About the project

Supported by the Interreg Central Europe program, this project will establish five territorial living labs in Hungary, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Germany, and Poland. These living labs will serve as collaborative spaces where healthcare organizations, companies, policymakers, patients, and their families can co-create and test digital solutions to enhance patient care. At the territorial level, living labs will identify specific challenges and address local needs. All living labs will form a transnational network to facilitate knowledge sharing and exchange of experiences, led by the Austrian knowledge partner. The expected benefits of the project include: - Empowering patients and their families to contribute to lowering the cases of inappropriate care and reducing expenses. - Improving patient safety. - Delivering high value to patients by shifting from a disease-centred to a person-centred approach. - Improving cooperation along the value chain of the healthcare system.

Roadmap

1

Preparation and Capacity Building

This stage focuses on defining the vision and purpose for future territorial living labs through developing • Health Living Lab Methodology (as a basis for pilots), including mapping territorial stakeholders and defining core group members, and • Value-Based Healthcare Service Delivery System for Central Europe (CE).

2

Identifying Territorial Challenges

This can be done with help of organising the focus groups and Open Innovation Camps where all stakeholders are included in the process.

3

Developing Solutions for 5 Territorial Living Labs

Drawing on insights from focus groups and Open Innovation Camps, five custom technical solutions for each territorial living lab will be developed, building on the living lab methodology and pilot experiences.

4

Establishing a Transnational Network of Health Labs4Value in Central Europe

Transnational cooperation will be built upon the jointly developed strategy and with the help of an established transnational network of Health Labs4Value.

5

Boosting / Promoting further Adaptation of the Value-Based Healthcare Service Delivery System and Living Lab Methodology

Outputs

5 new technical Solutions based on Pilot experience

New solutions will incorporate the experience gained during the pilot phase and will be expanded into new technical solutions applicable across Central Europe. A full shift towards Value Based Health Care (VBHC) requires more systemic changes and time than the Health Labs4Value project could encompass. Nevertheless, it represents the first and most crucial milestone on this journey.

Transnational Strategy for Network of Health Labs4Value 2035

The project partners will embark on a collaborative effort to develop a strategic framework for the Transnational Network of Territorial Health Labs4Value, extending its vision until 2035. This framework will address both joint challenges faced by the network and the specific territorial challenges encountered by individual Health Labs4Value initiatives. Through a collaborative process partners will define strategic objectives and establish measurable impacts for the network's success.

Jointly developed Final territorial Action plans of territorial Health Labs4Value

While participating regions share a common goal, their healthcare ecosystems face unique challenges. To address these specific needs, territorial action plans will be developed for each Health Labs4Value initiative.

Pilots implementing the value-based health care system delivery by set-up territorial Living Labs (5)

Living labs are powerful platforms that bring together stakeholders across the value chain to co-create, prototype, validate, and test new services, products, and systems. This collaborative approach fosters open innovation in real-world contexts, showcasing the efficiency of living labs in driving innovation.
