On October 10, the REDU-CE-D project held its Transnational Technical Working Group meeting at the Freeport of Budapest, bringing together project partners and energy management experts. The meeting marked a significant step in advancing the project’s objectives to increase energy efficiency across various modes of transportation in Central Europe.

Each project partner appointed one internal and one external expert in energy management within the transport sector to participate. These experts collaborated to assess existing practices, evaluate their adaptability, and select the best practices for further implementation within the framework of different transport modes: air, urban, waterway, and rail. The meeting was complemented by insights from the Horizon 2020 DEESME project, which focuses on empowering authorities to implement national schemes under EED directives and supporting SMEs in adopting Environmental Management Systems (EMS). Best practices in urban mobility, collected through the European Urban Mobility Observatory (ELTIS), were also presented.

The day included a structured workshop where participants worked in subgroups to analyze the transferability of best practices to Central European transport systems. These discussions explored how these practices could be adapted to meet the specific needs of the region. Each subgroup presented key insights, which will serve as critical inputs for the REDU-CE-D Strategy.

The collaborative effort of the Transnational Technical Working Group reflects the project’s commitment to fostering transnational cooperation and leveraging expertise to implement practical solutions for energy efficiency in transportation. By identifying and refining adaptable practices, the project aims to establish a robust strategy that aligns with EU energy goals while addressing the unique challenges of Central European regions.

This milestone highlights the vital role of stakeholder collaboration in achieving REDU-CE-D’s mission and reinforces the importance of innovation and knowledge sharing for a more sustainable future in transportation.
