Join us for an insightful workshop tailored to businesses looking to learn more about cycling tourism and become a cycling-friendly service. This session will introduce the EuroVelo network and how cycling tourism is an opportunity for service providers. It will then share information on who the cycling tourists and what are there needs. This will lead us into the last section which will present tips as to better cater for the needs of cycling tourists as a service provider.

  1. Introduce EuroVelo, with a focus on EuroVelo 13 – Iron Curtain Trail
  2. Cycling tourism and why it is an opportunity for service providers
    • Showcasing increased interest for cycling tourism through different studies (EuroVelo Data Hub, State of the Cycling Tour Operators Industry (2024), the European Cycle Route Network – EuroVelo, national studies on cycling tourism)
  3. Who are the cycling tourists?
  4. Tips to better cater the needs of cycling tourists based on examples
    • General cycling-friendly approach (behaviour) towards all kind of cyclists – inclusivity and diversity
    • Develop services: bicycle parking, laundry services, catering, repair tools, information
    • Join a cycling-friendly services scheme: make your interest visible and recognised
    • Use EuroVelo branding on your communication tools
    • Promote services, offers, …
    • Connect with other stakeholders, build partnerships and exchange knowledge
