The workshop, organised jointly by Clean cities, C40 Cities and Municipality of Milan, aimed at exploring new scenarios dedicated to zero-emission logistics for the city of Milan. In line with the European projects Green and healthy Streets Accelerator (C40Cities), 100 Climate Neutral and Smart Cities of the EU, the Municipality of Milan foresees a zero emissions area and is exploring alternatives for polluting vehicles present in Milan.
The event addressed technical and political actors from the Milan municipality to inform them about strategies, policies and data guiding the shift towards new urban logistics reducing the hazardous emissions, congestion and negative impact on public spaces.
The speakers illustrated the best practices adopted by several European and Italian cities among which, Mr. Paolo Gandolfi presented the Reggio Emilia case, and the pilot implemented under the GRETA project. The intention was to show how public administrations could promote sustainable urban logistics even in a medium-sized city. Additionally, Mr. Andrea Bardi, ITL participated in the panel on challenges and opportunities related to logistics decarbonization and shared the ITL experience on different solutions applied, with a specific focus on lessons learned in the URBANE project.
