Participatory Design Process for the Courtyard in Pinerolo Concluded!

Date: 28.02.2025
The participatory process for designing the city courtyard in Pinerolo has come to an end, involving both European partners and local residents as well as city officials. The process unfolded in several stages, engaging different groups of stakeholders.

In the first phase (November 14, 2024), European partners explored the courtyard and focused on its perception and potential improvements. Suggestions included adding more greenery, restoring existing elements such as the fountain, and enhancing accessibility.

The next step was an online survey conducted in January 2025, where local councillors and municipal employees shared their insights on the current use of the space and future needs.

The final phase involved World Café sessions (February 18, 2025) with 60 participants. They reviewed previous findings and collaboratively developed proposals for activities that could take place in the redesigned courtyard. Discussions also focused on elements such as greenery, urban furniture, and flooring to support those activities.

The process concluded with full community engagement, outlining the next steps in the project’s implementation, including cooperation on maintaining the greenery that will be planted in the courtyard.
