The purpose of the meeting was to update local stakeholders on the INACO project’s progress and to outline future planned activities. This gathering facilitated an intersectoral exchange regarding heritage preservation and risk management.
During the meeting, participants viewed a presentation on the INACO project, which detailed its main objectives and specific goals. They learned about the role of the Institute for the Restoration of Dubrovnik in the project and the benefits it provides for risk management concerning cultural heritage in the Rijeka Dubrovačka Valley.
We also presented existing strategic documents at the national, regional, and local levels to emphasize the necessity of developing an integrated risk management plan for our pilot site.
The main topics discussed at the meeting were the following completed deliverables:
- Analysis of the adoption of the EU Water Framework Directive in relation to the protection of cultural/natural heritage sites
- Analysis of the adoption of strategies/plans of adaptation to climate change for the cultural and natural heritage protection
- Identification of the risk-prone areas and tagging of the most sensitive cultural and natural heritage objectives
The discussion among stakeholders was productive, focusing on how the conclusions from the analyses could guide future activities within the project framework and enhance strategies for protecting cultural and natural heritage in Rijeka Dubrovačka. All stakeholders emphasized the importance of involving the local community in analysis, future activities, actions, and measures.
