The presentation was linked with a live interactive workshop on Circularity Compass covering incorporation of circular economy along the whole life cycle in public transport.
The workshop entitled “Circularity Compass – going from “take-use-throw” to “avoid-extend-transform-enable”” was organised by trolley:motion with an aim to take up the innovative and challenging topic of the adoption of a circular economy think and action in the Public Transport sector with a group of experts present at UITP TBC meeting. The event aimed at highlighting and embedding the idea that circular economy is a crucial and already unavoidable approach to increase the efficiency of public transport systems, as well as it emphasized the necessity to break from the unsustainable linear patterns of production and consumption (“take-use-throw”) and turn to “avoid-extend-transform-enable” in order to improve the sustainability and resilience of public transport.
Over 35 public transport experts from all over the globe (Europe, North America, Asia) and standing for various backgrounds, including representatives of public transport operators and agencies, public transport industry, local authorities, and mobility consultancy, lobby and interests groups took an active part in this engaging workshop exercise.
