The conference “Fostering Regional Drought Resilience in South-Eastern Europe,” held on February 5th and 6th, was a key event in advancing drought management across the region. It provided a valuable platform for experts, policymakers, and practitioners to come together, exchange knowledge, and discuss innovative solutions. The conference emphasized the importance of cross-border collaboration, the need for enhanced monitoring systems, and the vital role of international cooperation in overcoming fragmented policies.

A central message from the event was the necessity of strengthening cross-border collaboration, aligning national priorities, and harmonizing policies to improve drought management in Southeastern Europe. National and regional plans must prioritize climate adaptation strategies, facilitate knowledge exchange, and promote coordinated actions. The event not only fostered the exchange of ideas but also laid the foundation for building stronger, collaborative efforts aimed at mitigating drought impacts, enhancing drought monitoring, and improving regional resilience.

As part of the program, a marketplace session was held, during which the Slovenian Environment Agency (ARSO) had the opportunity to present the Clim4Cast project. The presentation focused on the project’s achievements and results so far, followed by an engaging exchange with participants, many of whom expressed strong interest in the project’s activities. This provided an excellent opportunity to disseminate results and network with other drought-related initiatives, paving the way for new synergies and collaborations. The conference was also attended by colleagues from the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ), whose valuable insights strengthened regional collaboration. Their participation further enriched the discussions and highlighted the importance of joint efforts in enhancing drought resilience.

We are thrilled to have presented the Clim4Cast project to such a diverse and engaged audience. It was incredibly rewarding to see the strong interest generated, and we are excited about the opportunities for future collaboration fostered by the conference.
