The new international railway line will be tested from 24 April until 30 September 2024 and will support better connections in rural, peripheral and cross border areas between Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. The launch event will take place on the 24 April and is framed in two separate moments: a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Villa Opicina train station before the train departure and a welcome event at the Rijeka train station on the arrival of the first train, followed by a joint press conference. The opening event is on invitation only, but the service is open to all. This international service operates daily, with the train departing from Villa Opicina at 7:50 and arriving in Rijeka at 9:54. Stops: Sežana, Divača, Pivka, Ilirska Bistrica, Šapjane, Opatija Matulji. The roundtrip departs from Rijeka at 18:25 and arrives in Villa Opicina at 20:40.
