Polish consultations on the proactive drought management framework were conducted during a meeting of the National Network of Demonstration Farms in Warsaw (https://gospodarstwademonstracyjne.cdr.gov.pl/).

The event was attended by representatives of the Regional Agricultural Advisory Centers, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, affiliated research institutes, agricultural schools, and farmers involved in the Demonstration Farm Network.

The meeting addressed issues related to drought risk management—before, during, and after its occurrence. The consultations were interactive in nature. Participants completed a questionnaire designed to support the development of a communication strategy, answering questions about the strengths and weaknesses of the current legal framework related to drought in Poland and offering suggestions on how drought risk management could be improved.

The project coordinator in Poland, Jerzy Kozyra, presented the scope and main objectives of the Clim4Cast project. Using a current drought analysis based on indicators available on the Clim4Cast project website (https://clim4cast.czechglobe.cz/), he introduced a new approach to monitoring droughts, heatwaves, and fire risk. He also outlined the key features of the current drought risk management system in Poland, as well as the concept of proactive drought risk management in agriculture.
