The seminar will take place on September 17 and 18, 2024, in Betliar and at farms within the Biosphere Reserve of Slovak Karst, one of Slovakia’s most treasured natural areas and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The main focus of this two-day gathering will be the intriguing relationship between shepherding and the conservation of large carnivores such as bears, wolves, and lynxes. These predators pose a challenge for farmers in regions where traditional livestock farming still thrives. Participants will delve into strategies for coexistence, exploring how to protect both livestock and wildlife, and fostering a sustainable future for both farming and biodiversity. Join us for a unique opportunity to engage with experts, share insights, and contribute to this vital dialogue!
