The partnership of BorderLabs CE set the objective to improve the management of cross-border functional areas and public services which need enhanced capacities in cross-border integrated planning, participatory governance as well as in the field of elimination of border obstacles. Within the project new governance models and solutions in the fields of integrated cross-border strategy development, participatory governance, cross-border development of sustainable and slow tourism, cross-border marketing of local products and reduction of border obstacles will be piloted and evaluated.

The first session of the kick-off event Living Labs in Central European Border Areas will focus on the introduction of the project, presentation of the 5 pilot activities in the field of 1) integrated cross-border strategy development, 2) cross-border development of sustainable and slow tourism, 3) participatory governance for transition management in cross-border twin-cities, 4) joint management of border obstacles, and 5) cross-border marketing and promotion of local products.

The second session Towards a More Integrated Central Europe will address the three intervention fields of the project, namely integrated cross-border spatial planning, elimination of cross-border obstacles, and cross-border participatory governance. Furthermore, the first reflections of a Central European Territorial Agenda will also be presented. The speakers of the session will be: Mr Frédéric Durand, Research Scientist, Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research, Mr Ricardo Ferreira, Border Focal Point, European Commission DG REGIO, Ms Sylvia Hirsch, Senior Project Manager Robert Bosch Stiftung, Mr  Nicolas Bach, Senior Researcher of Nexus Institute, and Ms Kitti Dubniczki, Director of CESCI.
