During one of the thematic sessions of The Fourth Water Roundtable, Dr Jerzy Kozyra presented the preliminary results of the first phase of the Clim4Cast project on crop yield losses due to drought and climate change. He also described the results of a survey on the level of knowledge of agricultural advisors on climate change adaptation issues and their opinion on the resilience of Polish farms to climate change. According to his findings, the level of knowledge is average, but advisors need more detailed knowledge about adaptation practices. “We need to improve farmers’ knowledge of climate change impacts and details of adaptation practices, as well as climate scientists’ understanding of agricultural technology,” concluded Jerzy Kozyra. The discussion also touched on farmers’ awareness and responsibility.
