On September 17, 2024, as part of the European Mobility Week, the Municipality of Ljutomer, a partner in the NXTLVL Parking Interreg Central Europe project, organized a workshop focused on the renovation of the Main Square, its surrounding areas, and parking solutions in the center of Ljutomer. The event was conducted in collaboration with the Urban Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, the Development Agency Sinergija, and architect Assoc. Aleksandr Ostan.
The workshop began at the Town Hall with welcoming speeches by the mayor and event organizers, setting the stage for a dynamic and engaging day of discussions and fieldwork. Participants were divided into three moderated groups, each tasked with exploring key topics: the renovation of the Main Square, parking management in the town center, and improvements to the backside of the Main Square. Each group conducted hands-on assessments on-site, identifying current strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities. Participants rotated among groups, ensuring diverse perspectives were considered for all three focus areas.
The event saw excellent public participation, with over 50 attendees contributing valuable insights, mirroring the high engagement witnessed during the first workshop held earlier this year. This strong community involvement underscores the importance of public input in shaping the future of Ljutomer.
The Municipality of Ljutomer, in collaboration with experts, will continue with intensive project development and securing funding for implementation. The success of this workshop demonstrates the significance of participatory planning, and future meetings on key municipal projects are already being planned.
