By: CIREVALC
On March 28, 2024, the second Local Working Group (LWG) meeting for the CIREVALC project was held in Poreč. The event gathered local pioneers, business support organizations, regional authorities, and numerous SMEs.

Mrs. Jasenka Kapuralin from AZRRI Ltd. welcomed the attendees. Iris Pentek Gorički presented the findings from a regional analysis based on an online survey and interviews with local pioneers in Istria. These pioneers, from the food, catering, and packaging sectors, shared how they implement circular economy solutions.

Initially, AZRRI faced low survey response rates but increased engagement efforts, leading to more participation. They conducted ten interviews between September 2023 and January 2024, resulting in detailed reports summarizing each interview’s key points.

The meeting introduced local pioneers who actively use circular economy practices and showed strong interest in further cooperation to reduce environmental pollution. Their main motivations include enhancing their company image, complying with regulations, and minimizing environmental impact.

Attendees were briefed on upcoming project activities, including an action plan, study visits, an accelerator program, and pilot projects. They brainstormed and discussed ideas for the regional action plan, such as staff training on circular economy topics and collaboration with experts.
