2nd General Assembly and 1st Steering Committee Meeting

Date: 03.12.2024
The MedWaveImage consortium convened to review project progress and key milestones in defining medical device requirements. During the meeting, partners outlined the various system requirements defined over the first six months of the project, encompassing mechanical, electronic, and medical specifications.

These requirements were established through rigorous laboratory experiments with real prototypes and close collaboration between universities, industry partners, and medical experts. This joint effort has ensured a comprehensive and well-informed approach to advancing microwave imaging technologies.

Building on the project’s initial plan, the primary goal remains to refine the requirements of microwave imaging prototypes available in university laboratories and to establish pre-clinical testing procedures for medically relevant scenarios. Key areas of focus include:

  • Minimum Spatial Resolution: Determining the finest spatial resolution achievable in reconstructed images.
  • Dielectric Contrast Detection: Identifying the lowest dielectric contrast that microwaves can reliably detect, indicating impaired conditions of human tissues.
  • Measurement and Processing Time: Optimizing the total time required for data acquisition and processing.
  • Data Repeatability: Ensuring consistent and reproducible measurement results.

This collaborative effort emphasizes the project’s dedication to developing microwave imaging technologies with robust pre-clinical testing protocols, paving the way for advancements in medical diagnostics and treatment.

Stay tuned for more updates as the MedWaveImage team continues its innovative journey!
