BCT Gdynia – infrastructure works have been started

Date: 10.10.2024

BCT is going to facilitate the exit gate in axle scale system preventing overweighted trucks to go out to public roads.

Installation of the scales requires the change of the present surface on the road path under the automated exit gate portal. According to the EU rules (COST 323) regulating the installation of Weight In Motion scales (WIM), the surface needs to meet very restricted conditions of it structure, durability, slope and the distance before and after the scale’s sensors.  That is why the old yard surface had to be removed and exchanged by the by new one at the chosen location.

The tender for construction works was issued in July and in August the winner was chosen (ERTRANS Rumia). In the beginning of September the first works started. Now the old surface is removed and the ground  underneath is under preparation.  In next days the new surface will be poured in the prepared space. When the concrete hardens the grooves will be carved for the axle scale sensors and induction loops. Then  all the cabling and power supply and identification camaras will be installed and connected.

In the end of November it is expected to have all engineering works to be completed and ready for system integration and testing. If all going well it is expected to put the system into production phase in the first Quarter of 2025.
