By: TRANSGEO

In the project BVH – Mining Property Utilization Nonprofit Public Ltd. represents the non-SME enterprise target group with the strong intention to utilize the well assessment and the pilot feasibility study in its operations.

Regarding the communication activities, they are constantly sending informative letters to the owners of the geothermal research areas. Up to now 84 geothermal research permits have been issued to more than 35 companies. For those who are interested in the reutilization and testing of state-owned abandoned wells, they provide access to well data and well log documents.

They provide the opportunity to visit well sites where the abandoned wells are. During the 3rd period 4 site visits were organized to potentially reusable wells. They have proceeded 3 public tenders for the reutilization of abandoned wells, 2 tenders are still in progress, 1 tender was successfully concluded and BVH signed a contract with the company that will reuse the well named Tiszaalpár- 1 for geothermal energy production (heating and/or electricity depends on the well tests).

Project TRANSGEO was presented in The Budapest Geothermal Energy Summit, the region’s leading geothermal energy conference, which was held for the second time with great success on September 20, 2024 at the Kempinski Hotel in Budapest.

At the event Dr. Ferenc Fedor, the scientific associate of University of Pécs, gave a presentation on behalf of BVH company, where he presented the geothermal project of Interreg Central Europe called TRANSGEO and the possibilities of reutilization of the state-owned abandoned wells for geothermal energy production.
