Carbon Farming CE at BIOFACH 2025: Showcasing Innovation and Strategy in Sustainable Agriculture

Date: 18.02.2025

From 14–17 February 2025, the world’s leading trade fair for organic food, BIOFACH, brought together over 35,000 guests from 140 countries and 2,300 exhibitors from 94 countries in Nuremberg, Germany. Among the many discussions on sustainability and organic agriculture, Carbon Farming CE took center stage with a dedicated session on “Carbon Farming in Central Europe – Techniques, Business, Strategy”, held on Friday, 14 February 2025.

Dr. Bettina Faehnrich from ÖBG, Dr. Jerzy Kozyra from IUNG, and Dr. Aleš Kolmanič from KIS presented key insights from the project:

  • Bettina Faehnrich highlighted tested carbon farming techniques in Germany and shared the first project results.
  • Jerzy Kozyra explored carbon farming business models, cooperation strategies, and practical applications in Poland.
  • Aleš Kolmanič provided a strategic EU perspective on carbon farming, detailing the project’s Strategy for Mainstreaming Carbon Farming in Central Europe.

The session attracted scientists, policymakers, and business leaders from around the world, sparking engaging discussions on the future of carbon farming. As a result, Carbon Farming CE successfully increased project visibility, promoted sustainable agricultural practices, and reinforced the importance of carbon sequestration in European and global farming policies.

For those who missed it, the session recording is available on BIOFACH Digital for the next six months. https://playout.3qsdn.com/embed/7e5a73b1-af2a-41a3-8a8b-8580ec02a2b1
