Prague, Czech Republic – As part of the ongoing WEEE Aware/WEEE Lives campaign, the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU), the Lead Partner in the Circular WEEEP project, has made a significant impact on young minds by visiting 16 school classes and engaging approximately 480 students in discussions about electronic waste and the circular economy.
The campaign, aimed at raising awareness about Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and promoting sustainable disposal and recycling practices, has been met with great enthusiasm from students. Through interactive lectures and engaging discussions, the initiative has helped students understand the importance of responsible e-waste management and the role they can play in minimizing environmental impact.
The students were highly engaged and demonstrated considerable knowledge of the topic. Their active participation and insightful questions show a promising awareness of sustainability and circular economy principles.
The Circular WEEEP project focuses on educating the public, particularly young individuals, about the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling electronic waste. With e-waste being one of the fastest-growing waste streams globally, initiatives like these play a crucial role in fostering environmental responsibility among future generations.
The campaign remains ongoing, with further school visits and awareness activities planned. Organizers are optimistic that by fostering discussions at an early stage, they can help shape a more sustainable future where e-waste is properly managed and recycled.
