The City of Dornbirn and the University of Applied Sciences Vorarlberg will collaborate to test climate change adaptation measures for heat islands through a pilot study where nature-based solutions will be implemented. Climate-relevant data, such as soil and air temperature as well as humidity, will be measured through a network of sensors to allow an evaluation of the effectiveness before and after the pilot study. Further, the collected data will be visualized and made accessible to citizens and other relevant stakeholders. This pilot study will enable us to learn more about the effectiveness of nature-based solutions as well as the feasibility of further measures, and on top of that, it will result in awareness enhancement.
