On 2nd December 2024, the Institute for Circular Economy and the City of Zagreb joined forces to host an inspiring session at the Zagreb Forum (and online), focusing on sustainable agriculture, land use, and food production. Though some time has passed since this training, its impact and the resources shared are just as relevant today.
The event brought together decision-makers eager to learn, collaborate, and develop practical solutions for driving sustainability in their communities.
The training offered a rich mix of expert presentations, practical examples, and interactive discussions. Presenters shared their experiences from the field, giving participants valuable insights into best practices for fostering sustainability.
Some of Key Highlights:
🌾 Practical Skills for Stakeholder Engagement: Participants learned effective methods to involve stakeholders in their sustainability projects, with step-by-step guidance on how to create impactful collaborations.
🗣️ Action Planning: The session included brainstorming and action planning, encouraging participants to outline concrete steps for implementing sustainable practices in their areas.
😊 Module 2: Urban Farming and Its Socio-Economic Potentials:
Module 2 introduced participants to urban farming, highlighting its benefits and innovative practices. The session provided practical demonstrations of how urban farming can be implemented at home, including the fundamentals of composting and the balance between brown and green components in the composting process.
Participants explored successful urban farming practices from the City of Zadar and were made aware of a valuable resource—the guidebook Urban Farming for Beginners. This guidebook, available in English, offers practical insights into urban farming, including site selection, plant care, sustainability practices, and strategies for community engagement. Whether you’re a CoFarm4Cities project partner or someone eager to start an urban garden, we believe that this resource provides a helpful starting point for transforming urban spaces into thriving green hubs.
This dynamic and inspiring day truly achieved its goal: participants left motivated and equipped with knowledge to create positive change in their communities, turning ideas into action for a more sustainable future. Even three months later, we continue to reflect on the event’s impact and stay connected with participants to support ongoing collaboration and growth. 🌱
