In Ajdovščina, the second partner meeting of the mentioned project took place within the last month. Solving the problem of cross-border wildfires requires different methods of approach, which is why different border regions, communities and provinces from Slovenia, Germany, Austria, Italy and the Czech Republic joined together to enable a more integrated, targeted and inclusive approach to dealing with the mentioned cross-border threat fires. The work at the second regular meeting began with a meeting of the Steering Committee and continued with a detailed presentation of the work groups, implemented activities. The day ended with the planning of further activities in accordance with the financial and implementation plan of the project. And if the first day was dedicated to discussions around the table, the program of the second day focused on field trips. The partners were undoubtedly most interested in the scene of the fire on the Karst in 2022, and also in the largest regional center of Civil Protection in Italy – the Headquarters of the Civil Protection of the Friuli-Julian Region in Palmanova.
Seeing both the area of the fire as well as the local and cross-border work on prevention were certainly the factors that will encourage the partners to further, even closer connection and cooperation on the topic of fires.
