Exciting School Visits Promote E-Waste Awareness

In an effort to educate young minds on the importance of responsible e-waste management, the WEEE Aware pilot, a key component of the Circular WEEEP project, successfully conducted a series of engaging school visits.  The Slovenian partner, Center Ponovne Uporabe (CPU),  aimed to increase students’ awareness of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) through interactive and educational activities.

A highlight of the initiative was an innovative and engaging card game designed to help pupils classify WEEE into the six EU product categories. Each child was given a card representing an electronic device and challenged to identify its correct classification. This hands-on activity tested their knowledge and reinforced the significance of properly sorting and disposing of electronic waste.

To aid their learning, students were introduced to the EU classification system for Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE), which consists of six categories (temperature exchange equipment, screens and monitors, lamps, large equipment, small equipment, small IT and telecommunication equipment).

Through these dynamic sessions, students gained valuable insights into e-waste management while developing a deeper understanding of the environmental impact of electronic waste. Their enthusiasm and engagement made the sessions both educational and enjoyable.
