One structural and strategic component of the Interreg HUMANITA project is the development of materials and activities to raise awareness about interactions and impacts between human and natural environment, sense of belonging and responsibility towards nature, and involvement in actively participating in its conservation. To meet these objectives, one outcome of the project is the launching of a digital container of educational and training materials called Green Academy (GA).

The Green Academy aims to provide the public with tools and information to become an active part of change in participatory and sustainable management of natural areas, encouraging interest in approaching and joining Citizen Science initiatives.

The proposed training is organized into concise, easy-to-read documents. Beginning with a general introduction to the project’s main objectives, the materials offer insights into the Citizen Science tools currently utilized at the pilot sites, along with clear instructions on how to access and participate in these activities. The GA’s key section is then followed by specific details of Citizen Science activities running within the project and other thematic content, external to HUMANITA, with additional documentation.

The GA is a work in progress that will be enriched with content as the project progresses and whose purpose will really be achieved the more widely the public will be reached. A more informed and aware community of citizens-tourists of what comes from their interaction with nature, is an audience that knows and can act also to help preserve it, influencing positive and responsible behavior on a larger scale.

Check out the Green Academy on the “Media” section of the official webpage of the Humanita project, and keep up to date on the status of work on the project’s website and social pages (Facebook, Linkedin, YouTube, Instagram, X (Twitter)). Documents are available in the different languages of the partners’ countries.
