On March 7, a wildfire erupted at Heissenplatte near Bayrischzell, potentially caused by a Daxen fire spreading uncontrollably. The blaze affected 100,000 square meters of forest and land. Firefighting operations, involving local fire brigades, mountain rescue teams, THW, and multiple helicopters from Bavaria and Tyrol, lasted until Sunday.
Initially, police helicopters identified the extent of the fire, prompting a large-scale emergency response. By Friday evening, open flames were under control, and aerial water drops continued into Saturday to eliminate remaining embers. Ground teams then moved in to secure the area.
The Miesbach Criminal Investigation Department is leading the inquiry into the cause of the fire. Authorities emphasize the importance of fire prevention, particularly in dry conditions.
