The project „Zero energy buildings for Zero energy neighbourhoods „- ZEB4ZEN is based on how to develop a methodology for energetically renovating entire neighborhoods and define action plans for the transformation of city neighborhoods into neighborhoods with almost zero energy consumption by 2050. Specific goal in the City of Karlovac, which is one of the three pilot areas, is the digitization of the energy system of energy production and consumption planned in one city block – the city administration building, where a small photovoltaic system will be installed in cooperation with the conservation department in Karlovac, an electricity storage tank on the roof of the city administration building and a two-way charging station for electric cars on the plateau in front of the building and various technologies for monitoring consumption, indoor air quality, etc.The City of Karlovac is extremely proud to be a part of this project and is satisfied with the cooperation with the project holder and other partners and looks forward to all the benefits that will be achieved through it.
City of Karlovac is a local self-government unit and the administrative centre of Karlovac County. It is an important traffic and economic center oriented strategically as a green and smart city. Recognizing the importance of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources and the possibility of development based on the principles of energy sustainability, the City of Karlovac joined the EU initiative Covenant of Mayors as an initiative launched in January 2008 with the aim of connecting energy-conscious European cities into a permanent network for the purpose of continuous exchange of experiences in energy-sustainable urban development. The City of Karlovac is preparing and implementing a range of projects in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, which take into account energy efficiency and provide measurable targets and results related to reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
