The City of Šibenik is the capital and cultural, educational, administrative and economic centre of Šibenik-Knin County. The City of Šibenik is a unit of local self-government with more than 120 employees, and through ten administrative departments is responsible for planning and implementing activities related to urbanism, economy and entrepreneurship, utilities, social welfare, childcare, education, transport, civil protection, etc. City of Šibenik is the founder of 7 companies and 16 institutions. The City of Šibenik’s activities aim to establish favourable conditions for business and life in the local community and ensure balanced and long-term sustainable social and economic development for its population. The City of Šibenik is recognized for the implementation of various infrastructure projects co-financed from the EU and national sources. The City of Šibenik attaches special importance to projects that contribute to social inclusion, employment, and the creation of better conditions for disadvantaged groups, as well as greater availability of social services. The City of Šibenik’s main activities aim to establish favourable conditions for business and life in the local community and ensure long-term sustainable economic and social development of the population.

The City of Šibenik has implemented and is implementing several different projects financed by national and EU funds. Over the years, the city has transformed from an industrial to a tourist centre. It is located near two national parks; it has a rich cultural heritage and two UNESCO monuments. As a city that wants to protect its natural and cultural heritage and create optimal living conditions for its citizens in recent years, is experiencing climate change and its consequences, such as temperature differences, rising sea levels and forest fires. For these reasons, the city wants to increase its resilience to the risk of climate change. Through this project, the City of Šibenik aims to reduce the climate-change vulnerability of territories and urban areas to adverse climate-change impacts and to improve disaster risk prevention and management.
