On 16th October 2024, ARSO hosted an educational event during which multi-hazard events characteristics, nature-based solutions for managing urban areas, existing ARSO forecasting tools, the latest activities in this field, and innovative pilot solutions within the LOCALIENCE project were presented and discussed.
The event was organized as part of the activities of the Interreg Central Europe project LOCALIENCE (Developing resilience against extreme weather threats caused by climate change at local level in Central Europe), whose main goals are to enhance societal resilience to extreme weather events and to upgrade and improve forecasting and response processes for such events.
In discussions with the participants, we identified:
- current shortcomings in the response process to extreme events,
- the foundations for further activities and development.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ljubljana Fire Brigade, the Department for Protection and Rescue of the Municipality of Ljubljana, and employees of ARSO.
