The Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE second call for project proposals invited organisations from across the programme area to submit their transnational cooperation ideas in all priorities and specific objectives. The call was open from 22 March to 17 May 2023 with an indicative budget of 60 million Euros ERDF.
When the call closed, 210 project proposals were submitted with the participation of 1843 organisations from all programme countries and beyond. Following the closure, the programme first checked all proposals formally and assessed them against strategic criteria (i.e. relevance and partnership).
These first steps of the assessment process resulted in the selection of 118 strategically relevant proposals that are currently fully assessed. This filtering was confirmed by the programme countries in their 6th monitoring committee meeting in Vienna on 16 October and lead applicants were informed about the decision on 19 October. The monitoring committee also agreed to take the final funding decision in the 7th monitoring committee meeting on 31 January and 1 February 2024.
In addition, the monitoring committee discussed strategic options for future calls including a call to support small places and a capitalisation call to strengthen the uptake of Interreg solutions across central European regions. Last but not least, the committee agreed on concrete measures to further improve the current programme implementation in line with recommendations from the impact evaluation of the previous programme.
