Project news from a darksky park in Hungary

Date: 09.04.2025
Last week we were guests of STRIA, South Transdanubian Regional Innovation Agency, in Pécs (Hungary) for the third partner meeting.

Two intense days of meetings to discuss the progress of activities, get to know each other better and plan for the future.

We discussed the main topics of the moment, focusing on a repository of data on light pollution, ecosystem services and GIS mapping, the work on the perception of light pollution by citizens and stakeholders, and the photometer network.

Finally, the work groups that are working on the transnational strategy discussed the progress of the work and began to prepare the ground for the development of pilot actions in the 5 areas chosen by the project.

We also had the opportunity to visit the Zselic Darksky Park, one of three dark sky parks in Hungary. This allowed us to learn more about how they operate, the challenges and opportunities they face, and the type of astrotourists they attract.
