As part of recently concluded public consultations, the residents of Osijek had the opportunity to share their views on the revitalization of courtyards and the development of green infrastructure in the city center. The consultations aimed to understand the expectations of the local community and incorporate their opinions into the final project, which envisioned creating new green areas, spaces for small cultural events, and areas for outdoor leisure.
The project covered two courtyards in the city center, which were in a neglected state. Planned actions included introducing new plantings, shading infrastructure, and amenities such as benches and deckchairs. The goal of the revitalization was to transform these areas into attractive, accessible meeting spaces for all residents, including those with limited mobility.
A key aspect of the project was also adapting the courtyards to climate change by incorporating green infrastructure to improve the microclimate of urban spaces. Conservation studies were completed, and detailed technical documentation necessary for the project’s execution was prepared.
Through the consultations, the residents of Osijek were able to share their ideas and needs regarding the development of these spaces. These inputs were incorporated into the project, which aims to create a beautiful, sustainable, and inclusive environment that will benefit both residents and visitors.
