In July 2024, Unioncamere del Veneto held several significant meetings as part of two projects funded by the Interreg Alpine Space 2021-2027 and Interreg Central Europe 2021-2027 programs.

The goal was to explore potential synergies with the H2CE Project – Empowering H2-ready Regions in Central Europe, approved in the first call of the Interreg Central Europe 2021-2027 Program. These meetings represented a crucial step in strengthening collaboration between the projects and promoting sustainable development in hydrogen technologies.

Meeting with the H2MA Project – Codognotto One of the main meetings was held with Codognotto, a partner of the H2MA project funded by the Interreg Alpine Space 2021-2027 Program. H2MA is an ambitious project aimed at developing integrated solutions for hydrogen mobility, facilitating the creation of transnational freight and passenger transport infrastructure. These infrastructures will cover various modes of transportation. Additionally, the project plans to synchronize with urban mobility planning, particularly regarding the use of hydrogen buses, to amplify the macro-regional impact of existing initiatives.

Codognotto, as a project partner, is working on the creation of a Masterplan for hydrogen mobility in the Vienna area, which will be integrated into a broader Masterplan encompassing all regions of the Alpine Space. This plan represents a crucial step in integrating hydrogen as a sustainable energy source into the region’s transportation systems.

Meeting with the HyEFre Project – WeEurope srl SB Unioncamere del Veneto also met with WeEurope srl SB, a company of the Ergon Group and partner of the HyEFre project funded by the Interreg Central Europe 2021-2027 Program. The HyEFre project aims to create green hydrogen ecosystems by promoting a favorable environment for investments in renewable energy and green hydrogen technologies. A key aspect of this project is reducing regulatory barriers that hinder the timely expansion of renewable energy and green hydrogen, a crucial element for Europe’s energy transition.

H2CE Project and Policy Monitoring During the meetings, Unioncamere del Veneto also highlighted the progress of the H2CE Project, funded by the Interreg Central Europe 2021-2027 Program. The H2CE project aims to implement an integrated tool that provides a clear overview of the current state of the hydrogen sector, integrating initiatives and data on a single platform to facilitate information sharing among various stakeholders.

Synergies Among the Three Territorial Cooperation Projects – Interreg 2021 – 2027 A key point that emerged during these meetings was the strong synergy between the three projects in the periodic monitoring of policies at the regional, national, and European levels. These policies are crucial for allowing the companies involved to stay at the forefront of adopting sustainable and innovative practices. Additionally, they offer the opportunity to access essential funding for the expansion and upgrading of infrastructure related to the production, distribution, and consumption of hydrogen as an energy source.

The meetings organized by Unioncamere del Veneto in July 2024 represent an important step forward in promoting hydrogen as a key resource for Europe’s energy transition, contributing to strengthening collaborations and creating an integrated network of projects and initiatives in the sector.
