A Glimpse into the Journey
Embark on an unforgettable journey with the ICTr Explorer Tour Central, a unique cycling adventure that takes you through the picturesque landscapes of the Czech Republic and Austria. The first group has started the newly designed cycling tour and they have been cycling for the 3rd day. During the project, we designed innovative offers, and a series of cycling tours, each designed to immerse you in the rich history, culture, and natural beauty of the regions.
Arrival in Slavonice
The group’s adventure began in the charming town of Slavonice. They were welcomed by the certified cycle-friendly accommodation in the former water mill Bejčkův Mlýn, heaven for cyclists. They were served a barbecue dinner and had a chance to get to know their fellow adventurers.
Riding the Iron Curtain Trail
The journey continues along the EuroVelo 13 – The Iron Curtain Trail, which takes you from Slavonice to Vranov nad Dyjí, partially along the former railway of the Thayarunde. Along the way, they visited the serene forest Jewish cemetery and the majestic Renaissance chateau in Uhercice, culminating the day with a visit to the stunning Vranov Dam.
A Ride through Podyjí/Thayatal
Now they are riding through Podyjí/Thayatal, spanning both Czech and Austrian territories. The ride started in Vranov nad Dyjí and continued to Hardegg, one of the most picturesque towns in Austria. The highlight of the day is a visit to the centre of Thayatal National Park, where you can observe wild cats feeding, guided by a ranger. The day also includes a visit to an outdoor ICT exposition in Čížov near the Czech visitor centre NP Podyjí, a stark reminder of the Iron Curtain.
Beyond the Three Days
While the initial three days offer an exciting glimpse into the journey, the ICTr Explorer Tour Central is the first tour out of three designed within the ICTr-CE project. Each tour is designed to offer a unique experience, allowing you to explore new routes, visit different historical sites, and immerse yourself in the local culture and nature.
