TRANSGEO Period 4 Project Partner meeting took place on 7th and 8th of April 2025 in Szeged, Hungary. The event was hosted jointly by CROST Nonprofit Ltd. and the University of Pécs and brought together representatives from all partner institutions.

The first day focused on reviewing the current status of the project. Following the opening by the lead partner, participants received updates on project management and progress. Different presentations covered several key areas, including the development of the Criteria Catalogue, decision tree and IT tool, and ongoing work on regional databases and feasibility studies.

Guest contributions provided valuable insight into real-world applications. MS Energy Solutions Ltd. presented a case study on the reuse of a DBHE well in Hungary, offering a practical perspective relevant to the project’s focus. Additional presentations highlighted the progress on data harmonisation, well assessment, and Transnational Strategy.

Partners also discussed upcoming tasks and deliverables, including stakeholder engagement, communication efforts, and final outputs for the upcoming project periods. The meeting concluded with an overview of administrative matters and a look ahead to future meetings and reporting deadlines.

The second day featured extensive and informative site visits to the companies that have reused abandoned wells in their geothermal development. Project partners visited Szeged District Heating Ltd. (SZETÁV), where they received an overview of local geothermal district heating operations and observed a well drilling in progress. Partners then traveled to Szentes to visit Árpád-Agrár Zrt., where they explored additional geothermal infrastructure, including a deep terminal well, buffer systems, and geothermal-heated greenhouses.

The two-day meeting offered an important opportunity for partners to assess progress, share experiences, and strengthen cooperation on the project’s shared goals.
