As part of the BIOECO-UP project, the first workshop within Activity A2.3, titled “Transnational Testing of Innovative Bio-Based Products Using a Living Lab Approach” was held on November 28, 2024, in Brno, Czech Republic. This activity aims to showcase bioeconomy-related products and processes to users at the national level while fostering support from these users to help manufacturers enhance the quality and value of their products.
The Czech project partners, Zemědělský výzkum, spol. s r.o., Troubsko, and the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, selected four bio-based products for the Czech Living Lab after conducting a series of consultations and questionnaires. A brochure has been created to introduce these products, and dedicated workshops are being organized to engage with potential users.
During the first workshop, the spotlight was on the product microfertile® from Four Leaves Agro, designed to enhance plant fitness and improve biomass production efficiency. Workshop participants received detailed information about the product and half-liter samples for testing, along with an invitation to provide feedback. The results will be evaluated at the beginning of 2025.
The second workshop, planned for December 12, 2024, will present additional bio-based products, including functional footwear with a high proportion of hemp biomass and products as natural solutions for sustainable insulation and agriculture. These innovative solutions will be introduced to participants in more detail, further demonstrating the potential of bio-based materials in various sectors.
The November workshop drew several dozen participants, whose strong interest was evident as all samples were quickly distributed. The event’s success is further documented through photographic evidence of the lively interactions and presentations.
This initiative is part of Work Package 2, “Empowering Citizens to Become Active in the Circular Bioeconomy,” which seeks to actively involve the public in shaping sustainable bio-based solutions for the future.
